Malaysia is many things, from a melting pot of multiple cultures to the only country in the world to have a democratic transition from a ruling party to the opposition without any bloodshed. On top of that, we are also known for many other amazing things, such as having a large number of internationally successful people, having the previous world no.1 badminton player and the list just goes on and on.
But recently, something really unpleasant came to light in the form of pedophilia.
That’s right.
Back in year 2016, Malaysia was ranked 3rd for child porn possession among ASEAN countries in a revelation made by INTERPOL. Now if that isn’t bad enough, recently there has been a case of an NGO person who was with Kembara Kitchen that is also an avid church goer that has been caught/called out by his victims who come out of the woodwork.
In fact, if you live in the KL, PJ or Subang area, I’m positive that when you were browsing Facebook you would’ve seen your friends coming forward to share their own experiences, which is mind boggling as some of these reports are from more than 5 years ago, with these people now over the age of 18 claiming that this same paedophile have been doing the same thing to them when they were 13 years old.
Truly sickening.

In the pictures shown above, it clearly shows what the intent was although the alleged named TC (not his real name) denied it. But after all that is said and done, it looks like he wont be getting away with it as he recently got picked up by the police under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 that classifies Child sexual grooming as a crime. The punishments differ from different articles in the act, such as article 13 which is defined as “any person who communicates by any means with a child for the intention of committing an offence under the act”, includes a maximum punishment of 5 years imprisonment and whipping but in another section titled section 14 is in regards to that offence of meeting a child following grooming, which is punishable with a maximum 10 year imprisonment and whipping.

We hope that everyone affected by this situation will get to move past this horrendous scenario and get better while for anyone out there who wish to partake in this lifestyle, please take this as a lesson to seek help.
