There’s too much to be excited about as the new decade comes in! And, it’s always the right time to start thinking about how you will spend your time in the cinemas with your loved ones.
To ease the process, we’ve assembled the most anticipated movies to be released this year! So, be sure to save up for the popcorn, folks!
1. Dolittle
To start off in the month of January, we have Dolittle – a film based on Hugh Lofting’s book The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle. The cast consists of the most talented actor of the generation, Robert Downey Jr, joined by his fellow Avenger, Tom Holland, along with Marion Cotillard, Selena Gomez, John Cena, Emma Thompson, and more.
2. Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
We last saw Margot Robbie taking centre stage in Suicide Squad – getting into all kinds of messes while encapsulating everyone all over the world with her baseball bat spins. Now in Birds Of Prey, she joins forces with other superheroes : Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to protect a young girl from notorious supervillain, Black Mask.
3. Mulan
Mulan… 1998’s story of a young woman in Imperial China who pretends to be a man to join the army. Disney is turning one of the most classic animated films into a live action early 2020 in the month of March – casting a Chinese-American actress Liu Yi Fei and other Chinese legends like Donnie Yen, Gong Li, Jet Li etc.
4. No Time To Die
Finally! We get to see the next James Bond film directed by Cary Fukunaga. The 25th James Bond film features Daniel Craig returning for his fifth and (presumably) final turn as the super-spy: 007 along with actor Rami Malek playing the villain.
5. Tenet
Tenet is by far one of the most ambitious projects by Christopher Nolan – the name that has gained international recognition from works such as The Dark Knight, Inception and Dunkirk. The film is described as an “action epic revolving around international espionage, time travel, and evolution.”
6. A Quiet Place II
Back in 2018, director of A Quiet Place, John Krasinski, took us by surprise with his horror concept and has become one of the most successful horror films in recent years! Back again with its second sequel, it will feature returning actors – Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, as well as star Cillian Murphy.
7. Bad Boys for Life
Although Bad Boys and Bad Boys II may have been quite a flop, the audience will finally get another buddy cop franchise after the long awaited 17 years. Bad Boys For Life will be released on the 20th of January. Well, we surely do have quite a lot of catching up to do! But it is good to see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence again, nonetheless!
8. The King’s Man
The King’s Man, directed by Matthew Vaughn ,now serves as the third instalment of the Kingsman franchise! But this time, it’s a prequel about how the spy agency came to exist in the early 1900s. This spy thriller will be released on the 12th of February in theatres!
9. Wonder Woman 1984
Yes, everyone agrees that Gal Gadot is one of the most adored and beloved superheroes amongst the DC characters. And now, the fans are getting what they want – a Wonder Woman sequel.
10. Sonic the Hedgehog
Calling all Sonic fans around the world! Although there has been a push back from its original release date in 2019, fans have finally approved of the redesigned Sonic character. Paramount is ready to conquer the box office with Jim Carrey on board as Dr. Robotnik.
