Who else is excited?
It has been 6 years since anyone has seen a masterpiece from the legendary Studio Ghibli, but the wait is finally over!
We finally have something to look forward to in the happiness drought that is 2020 as Studio Ghibli announces their latest animated film that will be released this year!
According to Unseen Japan, the film that the studio is in the midst of adapting is “Earwig and the Witch”, a novel by British author Diana Wynne Jones. The new film will be retitled “Aya to Majo”, which translates to “Aya and the Witch”.

Ghibli fans would be stoked to know as this is the same author responsible for the novel that brought Studio Ghibli the silver screen success of “Howl’s Moving Castle”.

The film will be directed by Studio Ghibli’s legend Hayao Miyazaki’s son, Goro. Goro has previously worked on “From Up on Poppy Hill” and “Tales From Earthsea”.

Hayao Miyazaki himself has come out of retirement to work on a new film titled ‘Kimi-tachi wa Dou Ikiru ka?’ or ‘How Do You Live?’ based on Yoshino Genzaburo’s 1937 story about a young boy who moves in with his uncle after the death of his father, before undergoing a spiritual change.
