In an age of which political correctness has rooted itself within the pinnacle of society, netizens opined that this restaurant was as offensive as it was politically incorrect.
A Malaysian restaurant chain got flak for their tone deaf poster over the course of the weekend as many were appalled by the content of said poster.
The post was published to their Facebook wall on Friday, 19 June. Its original aim was to direct traffic to their eatery but instead it spiraled into something else.
“Help [them] stand on their feet again. The COVID-19 outbreak has broken many of us. [They] are no exception,” the restaurant wrote, in reference to the disabled.
“Help them walk again, they will remove 20% off your entire bill this weekend for dine-in and takeaway.”
Many were infuriated by the illustration of a wheelchair next to a shocking message. People eventually banded together to ask the restaurant to take the post down.
Facebook users were quick to point out the notions of discrimination perpetuated by the post, be it intentional or not.
The controversial post was left to be till 3 days later when it was pulled from the restaurant’s Facebook page.
