Now, we are all under the movement restriction order to curb the spread of COVID-19. Some of us might be apart from our family, while some might with friends, and even their beloved ones.
Many people think that Long Distance Relationship (LDR) will never work, but there was also once said, “distance means so little when someone means so much”. Family and friends will more likely be encouraging you to give up on him/her, but should you? Whether it’s a yes or no, read this:
1. Less is more
Some people tend to spam messages to the other half to compensate for distance. But in fact, it can be harmful and exhausting to both of you. Discuss with each other the frequency. Teasing and tugging at the right moments would be a wiser way to create better chemistry.
2. To ‘be there’
Though you can’t ‘be there’ physically, that doesn’t mean that it’s not important to ‘be there’ virtually when it is necessary. Prioritise on every little small promise that you both have agreed, simple from a text update to long hour calls. Say it out, that you’ll be there and how much you’ve missed him/her.
3. Be confident and have faith
Believe it or not, trust can only be unbreakable or fragile. No relationship will ever work out without trust and faith, it’s somehow like a foundation for every relationship. But first thing first, never cheat on each other and always tell the truth! This will avoid the situation of your other half being overly worried or suspicious and break the trust. Always believe that you’ll be with him/her forever!
4. See it in a good way
Indeed, LDR can be a great opportunity for you to start enjoying ‘me time’ again with no interference. If you want to live together, you’ll need to learn to live apart first. Life is not only about your partner, you should have your own circle consisting of parents, siblings, friends, colleagues or even neighbours. Positivity is the key!
5. Do things together
Explore and share a common interest in each other. Not only to fill up your free time but also to have more things to talk about with each other. May it be playing the same game, watching the same Netflix or reading the same news. Both of you have to be creative about it!
All in all, these are just some of the things or habits that you can maintain to keep the bonding. Different relationships work differently. Always remember, why did you choose him/her in the first place?
