Fans of classic Spider-Man may still get attached to Tobey Maguire as the matured Peter Parker but Tom Holland as the teenage Parker has surprisingly delivered the performance of perhaps the best Spider-Man yet in Homecoming. With Michael Keaton helming as the villain from Birdman to Vulture, Spider-Man Homecoming is a resemblance from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 that we hoped will get better through sequels in the Spidey’s MCU franchise. Now that our spectacular hero is back in Marvel Studios, here are the notorious villains we hope to see on the big screen.
1. Kraven The Hunter
He may seem like a normal typical thug with fur vest that Spidey will just kicked his ass out. The half-brother of Chameleon is a force to be reckoned with incredible brute strength and enhanced abilities making him a beast-like supervillain capable of bashing up our friendly neighborhood hero.
2. Scorpion
Fret not as Mac Gargan was introduced in Spider-Man Homecoming so all we have to do is wait in patience for the sequel that is expected to come in 2019. One of Spider-Man’s most deadly foes, The Scorpion has great sets of weapon in his arsenal, with super human strength and agility, heavy cybernetical battle-suit and a mechanical tail that is able whip opponents with heavy force and blast plasma energy.
3. Morlun
Morlun is perhaps Spidey’s greatest enemy ever encountered in the comics, as he possessed godlike abilities being able to travel from dimensions to dimensions in search of the Spider-Totems, that is inherit by the different dimensions of Spider-Man. He has the lethal powers of absorbing life out of any living beings, thus giving the superhuman abilities of speed, flight and strength that have the potential to wipe out the Spiderverse.
4. Rhino
The closest we have seen the appearance of Rhino on the big screen was the ending of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, teasing us with the potential sequel featuring the big bad beast. Ultimately, it never happened as we are welcomed with the reboot and homecoming of the web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let’s hope we will be treated with face-off of Tom Holland’s Spidey and Rhino in the future sequels.
5. Carnage
A rather more sadistic psychopath than Venom, the host of Carnage, Cletus is a serial killer who eventually bonded with an offspring of Venom making them the combination of the one of the most terrifying villains that even Spidey himself called for Venom in aiding him to defeat the red symbiote. Rest assured as the upcoming Venom movie by Sony with Carnage as the big bad protagonist will eventually be connected to Holland’s Spider-Man in future.
6. Mysterio
The amazing fishbowl villain has been heavily rumoured to appear on the big screen finally as there are reports that the master of illusions will be getting his own standalone movie or appearing as the main villain in Spidey’s sequel. Mysterio has proved to be a tough opponent for the wall-crawler as he could create illusions and hypnotize to manipulate his foes.
7. Venom
We are backkkk… After the awful portrayal of Eddie Brock Jr aka Venom in Spider-Man 3, let’s hope that Tom Hardy will surprise us as the perfect sentient alien being in the upcoming Venom spin-off movie. The antihero fan favourite nemesis of Spider-Man is no doubt a great addition as the friend and foe of the web-slinger along with his puns and jokes as well as their chemistry making them perhaps the best “bro” in the Marvel Universe. Hopefully, we will be given the wondrous opportunity of the meeting of Tom Holland and Tom Hardy in future.
8. The Sinister Six
The planning of a Sinister Six movie came to a halt eventually after the announcement of Spider-Man entering the Marvel Studios but it is not a guarantee that it will stay in the pit forever as we have been already been introduced to the characters of Toomes and Gargan in Homecoming. There are many versions of Sinister Six, and we are sure Sony will take a different direction from the comics Original Sinister Six. During the mid-credits scene of Homecoming, conversation between the Scorpion and Vulture states that he has some friends outside to bring chaos to Spidey. Perhaps it is the introduction of Doc Ock, Electro, Mysterio and the Sandman?
Bonus!
9. Monster Ock
This hideous nightmare of a beast from Playstation 1 Spider-Man has haunted me till this very day. The fear of running away from this creature in the final stage of the game is an absolute nightmare from childhood and to see that on the big screen is probably awesome though it is far from happening.
