A familiar name in the local music industry, you’ve probably hummed to her songs on the radio. We managed to snag a golden opportunity to have a chat with her and we’re more than excited to show how much of a sweetheart she is.
Meet local singer songwriter, Talitha Tan!
Hi Talitha! You are a familiar name in Malaysia and we were wondering how did you rise to fame in the music industry.
Well, the first medium i promoted my music on was on YouTube, then I started getting performances. I guess you can say, my name started going around when I first released my single “Sigh”, name got thrown around more when I released the 2nd single “Okay”, written and composed by yours truly, produced by Darren Ashley.
“Okay” was number 1 on the MET10 charts 3 weeks in a row, and couple more weeks after that! Now it’s on regular rotation on most radio stations. “Okay”‘s lyric music video, has now about 200k++ views on youtube!
I honestly didn’t expect much releasing the song. But woo!
Share with us the creative process of writing your very first single.
Like a typical Taylor swift or Adele. (Though I really sound nothing like them). I write based on personal experiences. Because I feel the need to express myself through music, and the sincerity that comes out of it just makes it a whole lot easier and I don’t know. I’m all about them feels.
What do you think about the local music industry thus far?
It’s doing so much better than it was before. You see so many more opportunities for the people just starting out now. You see more people actually wanting to pursue music. It is definitely more supported now than it was before.
Other than singing, we know that parkour has got to be your favourite sport. Tell us how did you discover parkour!
I also rock climb and gym! Ahahaha. So these 3 I would say are my favourite activities.
I started working part time at a trampoline park for pocket money. Learnt how to do all sorts on the trampoline, but wasn’t satisfied with how I was unable to bring it out to show others. Saw a group of parkour kids training at the trampoline park, went up to them and said “Teach me how to do a backflip”, (I didnt know who they were. HAHA) and from then on I started training with them. (:
“The only thing stopping you is the fear. It’s a mental game.”
Any words of wisdom for your fans out there?
Do you have any role-models that you look up to?
My mum? By far one of the most hardworking/ strongest woman i know. Been through so much, and still standing. Always loving her daughters. ❤️

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I can’t tell you. Can’t predict the future. And honestly, I don’t want to expect much, but as long as I know I’ve done my best doing whatever it is I want to do. Then I’m happy. x
