Jack Neo’s box-office hit franchise, Ah Boys To Men (ABTM) is back with a fourth installment and there’s a twist to it – the “Ah Boys” now have a female army officer mixed into their merry band of brothers.
Hong Kong born actress Apple Chan is the latest addition to the ABTM family and she will be playing Zhang Xin Yi- a lieutenant in the Armour unit. She will be acting alongside Tosh Zhang, Wang Weiliang, Joshua Tan and Maxi Lim who all returned as the franchise’s favourite characters- Sergeant Ong, Lobang, Ken Chow and Aloysius “Wayang King” Jin.
If you have forgotten the 3 previous films, fret not! Here are some short videos for you to refresh your memories before ABTM 4 hits Malaysia silver screen.
ABTM 1
The first film opens with the Republic of Singapore being under an immense invasion from a fictional army, with iconic Singaporean landmarks, such as the Merlion and Esplanade coming under fire and many civilians were killed brutally. After that, the main plot revolves around a group of new army recruits in National Service in Singapore.
ABTM 2
The second installment focuses more on the unity of the protagonists, as well as tapping more on hot social topics like foreign talent in Singapore. According to Jack Neo, it gives a stronger story than its predecessor and had a “meatier” drama aspect to it. There’s also a theme included in part two, which is sacrifice, love, family and patriotism.
ABTM 3
The third film negates all happenings in the predecessors and explores what might have happened if the boys have been assigned to the Naval Diving Unit.
ABTM 4
We’re not going to spill the beans here but if you must know, the latest ABTM film follows the boys who has since left military and how they must juggle between work and their reservist duties.
AMTM 4 will be out in local cinemas this coming 23th of November 2017!
