After so long of requesting for WhatsApp to install a dark mode, they’ve finally heard our prayers.
WhatsApp recently released a short video entitled ‘Hello Darkness’, which shows us a short preview of the new dark mode on the app itself!

The dark mode was released for both mobile operating systems on the 4th February and ever since then everyone has been using it. If your phone is on dark mode, it will automatically be changed to dark mode on WhatsApp too.
The new feature was made to ensure it lowers the brightness of a phone display. The spokesperson of WhatsApp mentioned that during the test, they found a combination of pure black and white will create high contrast that can lead to users’ eyes being fatigued. So, with the new update, we will be able to notice a special dark grey background and off-white colour which will lower the brightness of the screen, cut down the glare and improve the contrast overall.

There’s a little difference between the IOS and Android version. There will be mostly pure black tones for IOS but dark grey on Android.
This has made it easier for us as we tend to use our phone in the dark, we can now avoid squinting our eyes.
To those that have not updated WhatsApp, what are you guys waiting for? It’s good for our eyes and the interface is cool too.
