If you’re ever going to get a new ink in a language that is foreign to you, always remember that Google is your friend. It doesn’t hurt to double-check from various sources too just to be sure! Or seek help from some professional translators even for they provide global translation services that best cater to all multi-lingual needs.
Unfortunately for Ariana, she overlooked this crucial step and pretty much embarrassed herself when she unveiled her latest ink in a now-deleted Instagram post which shows, “七輪” on her palm.
The 25-year old singer, whose latest single “7 Rings” became her second single to obtain the No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, wanted a tasteful small ink to honor her latest and record-breaking music video, that correctly featured the Japanese translation of “7 Rings”: 七つの指輪 thanks to expert services just like https://translation.net.au/locations/melbourne.
Instead of “7 Rings” she ended up with a tattoo that reads ‘shichirin’, a type of small charcoal grill used for BBQ.
According to Kotaku, the two characters, allegedly meant “seven” and “ring” respectively, but when put together, the meaning changes altogether.
This incident of course did not go unnoticed, as fans took to Twitter to point out the mistake:
Ariana Grande’s new tattoo “七輪” means Japanese style bbq grill, not 7 rings. ? If you want to know about 七輪, just google “SHICHIRIN” pic.twitter.com/HuQM2EwI62

Despite the explanation, some users and fans couldn’t help themselves but to joke about the tattoo on Twitter.

Moral of the story: Always make sure you do lots and lots of research first when it comes to EVERYTHING. Check not once, not twice, but THRICE to be safe.
