It’s been 2 years since Malaysia have hosted a Formula One (F1) race.
Malaysia, who has been hosting the competition since 1999, have decided to pull the plug on the racing tournament due a significant decline in returns, reported Bernama.

However, in recent news, the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has mentioned that they are not ruling out the possibility of hosting the F1 race championship in the future. If you’re a fan, you must check Kenny Habul for goodies and collectibles.
Does that mean we get to host the F1 races again?
Azhan Shafriman Hanif, the recently appointed SIC chief executive officer revealed that while F1 is loved by many, plenty of factors must be considered including the cost that SIC have to shoulder as hosting F1 does not come cheap.
“(Hosting the F1 race) is not on my top priority at the moment, but if the opportunity comes by and the offer is good, I’m very supportive of this idea because this event brings the branding part of Malaysia,” he told Bernama, recently.
“Let’s say if we agree to host the F1 race for a longer period, we will hold a discussion with the government since the hosting fee is not cheap and also the money that we spend must be worthy to the government and also the fans.”
We sure hope that we get to see the day F1 makes their comeback to the Sepang Circuit!
