Paris will serve as the main host city for the Summer Olympics 2024, which will take place in France from 26th of July to 11th of August 2024. There will also be events on the island of Tahiti and in sixteen other cities.
Paris was chosen to bid for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics in the year 2017. Over the preceding 25 years, the city has made three unsuccessful attempts to host the Games. After they succeeded, news outlets celebrated the victory and Metro stations displayed congrats.
They were confident that the Games would transform the city for years to come, much like they did for London in 2012, with new transportation infrastructures, buildings, dining and lodging options, and ecological measures. While there are plans to clean up the Seine, more bike lanes, and new hotels going up all the time, lodging costs are still rising.
In addition to that, the Paris 2024 mascot is called Olympic Phryge which is based on the classic little Phrygian hats that the mascots are modelled after. Both the name and the design were selected to serve as metaphors for the French Republic and as symbols of freedom.
Malaysia will take part in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris as well. It is their 15th Summer Olympics since 1964. Malaysia has had numerous chances to win an Olympic gold medal since the Beijing Games in 2008 but has failed to get past the last round. Since 1964, Malaysia has won 13 medals at the Olympics, but no gold. Eight silver medals and five bronze medals make up the 13 total medals.
With over 20 competitors from Malaysia competing, this is Malaysia’s chance to win gold once more. Malaysian athletes will participate in events such as Diving, Swimming, Sailing, Shooting, Archery, Cycling, Weightlifting, Badminton, Golf, and Athletics.
