Meet Donnie Yen, the wushu artist and Hong Kong actor that gains global fame after acting as the main protagonist of the autobiographical film ‘Ip Man’.
The final film of the Ip Man series, ‘Ip Man 4: The Finale’ is set to be scheduled to open at cinemas on Dec 20 this year.
In this final saga about the revered martial artist Ip Man, the film tells the story of the legendary master teacher of ‘Wing Chun kung-fu’, who encountered racial discrimination with his son after traveling to the United States to seek a healthier, quality life.
Yen’s character is close to 60 years of age and is stricken with cancer.
Upon his student’s invitation to go to the United States (FYI, the student is Bruce Lee), Ip Man ends up at San Francisco’s Chinatown where he has to teach a lesson to a couple of impolite Westerners about the art that he has been practiced since young.
And in line with the release, the actor portraying the titular character – yes, Donnie Yen himself will be coming to Kuala Lumpur on Dec 11 and 12 this week.
He will be coming to KL along with co-star Danny Chan, producer Raymond Wong, and scriptwriter Edmond Wong.
Yen and the others will be meeting his fans at 3 locations: Centre Court, Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, at 8pm on Dec 11 and 12, Oval Concourse, LG, 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya, at 7pm and Foyer, and last but not least at MBO The Starling Level 5, Petaling Jaya at 8.30 p.m.
