Downton Abbey fans, you will be receiving some great news!
The beloved TV series, which aired for six seasons from 2010 to 2015 has gone to silver screen! It’s not an adaptation or a reboot. It is a continuation of the series with the original cast returning!
For more than 5 years and six seasons, the show has delighted us the lives of the Crawley family in the post-Edwardian era. With events depicting the Titanic, The First World War, Spanish Influenza and Beer Hall Putsch throughout the series, we are also watching the historical events while going through the Crawley family’s lives. When the show was not renewed for another season in 2015, there was considerable dismay and outcry. When it was announced that it would be made into a film, people were happy.
Downton Abbey hits in much of Europe cinemas on 13 September. It is to be announced when it will hit cinemas here in Malaysia. If there’s anything good about the film is that the legendary actress Maggie Smith who played Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter series will be reprising as Violet Crawley, the matriarch of the Crawley family!
Since it’s release the film has met positive review from critics. It scored 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, which the audience score is yet to be revealed on 20 September. And to mention that there will be a 10-minuterecap before the start of the film!
