Initiating Phase 4 of the MCU, Spider-Man: Far From Home marks Tom Holland’s fifth turn as everyone’s web-slinging superhero after appearing in Captain America: Civil War, leading an adventurous first solo outing in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and found himself quite a bit of trouble in the intense Avengers: Infinity War.
Here’s a breakdown of what you can anticipate for Spider-Man: Far from Home.
***SPOILER ALERT***
1. When is the official release date?
The sequel will be released on 5th July 2019 in the US, two months after the release of Avengers: End Game. While Malaysia date has not been released yet, we often get our Marvel films the same exact date as the US and is usually earlier than most of the countries near us.
2. Where does the setting take place?
“What I think we should focus on is this Spider-Man who started in Civil War and then has this [Homecoming] movie, and then will be in the Avengers movie. And we are starting now the next one which will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story,” said Sony’s boss, Amy Pascal in an interview back in 2017.
Nuff said.
3. The meaning of the movie’s title, Spider-man: Far From Home
On a literal term, we know that Peter Parker will be leaving New York for Europe. Just like Homecoming, the title has double meanings to it.
This was confirmed by Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige who was quoted saying, “There’s another reason we’re shooting in London, which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he’ll spend some time in other parts of the globe.”
Although no clues were given further, we do know that his adventure outside the U.S will be related to the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame that’s for sure.
4. Casts: Who’s who
- Tom Holland as Peter Parker, aka Spidey (duh!)
- Zendaya as Michelle Jones
- Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds
- Marisa Tomei as Aunt May
- Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan
- Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio
- Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
- Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill
- Numan Acar as Dimitri aka Chameleon
- Remy Hii as Hydro-Man [possibly]
5. New Suits
Looks like Spider-man will be donning a couple of cool new suits in the upcoming film. The first is the red and black suit, which appears to have a wingsuit feature based on the trailer.
The second one is quickly identified as the stealth suit for its fetching all black number and tactility. But what could he be using this suit for? Our best bet is probably as an optical camouflage of some sort, along a few new gadgets up his sleeve too.
Either way, we’ll find out for sure only July 5th, when the film swings into theaters. But first, feast your eyes with the first trailer of the latest Spidey sequel :
