Following the quarantine act for the outbreak of the recent coronavirus breakout, Douyin (Tiktok for China) launched a live event Doulive Sofa Concert, reaching out to comfort those who had been staying home for weeks.
On February 21, Hong Kong singer G.E.M. did her live sofa concert. At the beginning of the concert, G.E.M. sang a few classic songs as requested by the viewers. To make the live event even more interesting, she even had a “mission” section to interact with the viewers. One of the missions she had to complete was a “high note challenge,” and she accepted the challenge with her song ‘Light Years Away’.
G.E.M. started off with the original key, and as she continued singing, she kept raising the pitch, up to 8 keys!!! At the end of her “pitch raising demonstration,” she jokingly said that if she continued to sing, her neighbor was going to complain! Her hitting the high notes went on to trend on both TikTok and Weibo, becoming one of the most searched topics at the moment.
