What’s the first thing that comes to mind when the topic of Penang comes up? Firstly, of course, it’s the splendorous food. But aside from that, Penang Street art is the biggest tourist attraction in Malaysia with more than one hundred illustrations scattered in George Town alone.
But what’s new?
The Penang International Container Art Festival has arrived in town!
The director of the festival, Tan Chor Whye told The Star that there will be a total of 5 installations around Penang, each painted on multiple elevated shipping containers, measuring about 10m high. Other containers like those 40 ft high shipping containers for sale can also be utilized to create art. Apart from that, this creation is proudly presented to you by 7 of our fellow Malaysian artists and five of their counterparts from Russia, Canada, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.
This painting of a trishaw rider marks the first mural of the festival, located in front of Prangin Mall. The Penang Global Tourism also aim to capture attention from tourist to pose for a picture, as an effort to boost the tourism of Malaysia. Check out the making of this festival!
