Looks like Zarith Sofia’s rescue mission was an unbearable one!
Malaysian singer, Zarith Sofia Yasin, was arrested by the Wildlife and National Parks Department on June 7th after citizens caught a video of a Sun Bear Cub poking out of the window of her condominium unit, roaring.
It’s understandable if citizens got frightened by the bear’s cries because it sounds too scary to bear! The 27-year-old Malaysian singer, who is also known as Cik Pia, is said to have stumbled upon the cub at a weakened state near Bukit Ampang about two weeks ago.
The singer, who initially thought she rescued a dog, mentioned that she had no plans to keep the bear cub as a pet and plans to hand it over to the zoo after it has recovered. Already forming a bond with the six-month-old cub, the cub even got its own name – Bruno!

The Sun Bear is a protected species in Malaysia, hence making this a really big news! At least it is safe to say that no one got hurt – the cub is sent to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Sungkai, Perak and is said to be in a healthy state. However, the cub is still too young to be released in the wild.
Zarith Sofia Yasin was a previous contestant on reality show Rockanova and is also working as a pub singer.
