Nestlé Malaysia will end the use of plastic straws for their products!
They recently announced the packaging for MILO UHT 125ml drink packs will come with paper straws instead of plastic straws!
The new packs will be launched sometime this year.
This change makes Nestlé Malaysia the first food and beverage company in the country to implement this and reduce the manufacture of plastic straws.
Nestlé has also made a statement saying that by implementing this, they are able to avoid usage of 40 million plastic straws per year in Malaysia.
The Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia, Juan Aranols said: “Reducing plastic waste and mitigating climate change effects through advanced technology and product design, as well as consumer education, are a priority for us. This is the latest of our contributions to Nestlé’s pledge to make our packaging 100% recyclable or reusable by 2025.”
Nestlé is also currently co-developing and testing new environmentally friendly packaging materials to be fully recyclable.
Earlier this year, Nestlé has eliminated all single-use plastic at their worksites and educated employees on the importance of recycling.
The company had also held a nationwide beach clean-up, having over 600 Nestlé employees participating!
