Suzanne Collins will be bringing us yet to another dystopian adventure, but this time, back in time.
Looks like the odds are finally in our favour.

Exciting news, Hunger Games fans: A new novel set 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games is set to publish in May 2020! On returning to the world of The Hunger Games, author Suzanne Collins said, “With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival. The reconstruction period ten years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days—as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet—provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.” — #hungergames #thehungergames #suzannecollins #panem #scholastic #ireadya #yalit
We are totally psyched up about the announcement! While we’ve ALWAYS heard of the “Dark Days” being mentioned in the movies and how it was swept under the carpet by the Hunger Games characters… Oooh, shivers.
This time, Suzanne Collins takes us back to Panem, 64 years before. Readers and fans can finally get a glimpse of the “Dark Days” in this new novel. Collins mentioned in a statement:
“With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival,” – Suzanne Collins
There’s still yet for a name to be given to the new prequel, but it is scheduled to be released on May 19th, 2020.
I don’t know about you, but I’ll definitely be lining up at the book store before it even hit the shelves.
