This is Apple’s first-ever Music Awards in celebrating 2019’s boldest and most well-known artists.
This year, tech-giant Apple has introduced its very first Apple Music Awards in honoring new musicians who produce good music. Apple will formally introduce the winners of 5 distinct categories – Global Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year, and last but not least Songwriter of the Year.
The award ceremony was held at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.
Judges and the Apple Music editors have selected Billie Eilish as Global Artist of the Year and Lizzo as Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Eilish and her brother, FINNEAS, will both awarded as Songwriter of the Year.
Based on Apple Music streaming data, Eilish’s album ‘When We All Fall Asleep’ and ‘Where Do We Go’ takes the Album of The Year, while Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ wins Song of the Year.
Apple Music Vice President Oliver Schusser lauded this year’s honorees for having ‘sparked deep social conversation, influenced culture and inspired our customers around the world’.
