Our favorite furniture store, (and its famed meatballs) has recently collaborated with world renown fashion designer, the Off White extraordinaire, Virgil Abloh!
For those who don’t know, Virgil Abloh is an American fashion designer, artist and DJ. He also has an impressive portfolio, among them is being the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection of 2013. He too is a CEO of the company he founded called Off-White, based in Milan.
On 1 November, his collaboration with IKEA will add another impression on his resume.
His collab with IKEA is called Markerad and its full of tongue in cheek references. And it’s only for a limited time! Look at the collections…
Being a fashion designer and artist, Virgil Abloh lends his hand in designing IKEA furniture. He has decided to do the minimalist approach with his artistic references and subverts elements that are typical of Virgil’s work. His elements add a sense of irony in it, and targets people who want a home will an edge of fashion.
He has some words to say on his unique design
“It’s about elevating the anonymous, everyday icons that we use without noticing. When we put a doorstop on one of the legs of an ordinary chair, we create something unexpected – an interruption.”
Since the release of Markerad, people have been eager to get their hands on one. However, IKEA has put a limit of two items per purchase, and four Markerad dining chairs at a time. They can be bought form 31 October onwards at IKEA Damansara, IKEA Cheras, and IKEA Batu Kawan. Sadly, all the items have since been sold out completely…
What do you think about the designs? Let us know at the comments!
