The event is being organized by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (Worldchefs) and is taking place from the 11th to the 14th of July.
There are currently more than 1000 participants from all parts of the culinary industry from all over the world being given a platform for them to share ideas, gain insights, learn about new technology, and learn about best practices from their international counterparts.
The event came to Malaysia following a successful bid by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), in the 2014 World Congress, held in Stravanger, Norway.
MyCEB, which works under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, stated that the event is estimated to generate an economic impact of RM11 million.
The biennial event was previously hosted in countries such as Chila, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, South Korea, and Ireland.
Speaking to the press, the CEO of MyCEB, Datuk Zulkefli Hj. Sharif said, “Malaysia is strategically located at the hub of Asia to showcase our capabilities of holding world-class business events with subject matter experts that will yield long-term benefits for Malaysia’s growth in the coming years.”
He also added that the expo has been hosted in European and Nordic regions in the past and that they were proud to bring it back, adding that Asia boasts the fastest growing number of members in Worldchefs, and is a very dynamic area.
As of this writing, chefs from more than 100 countries are in Malaysia, boosting its international presence as the culinary paradise we all know it to be.
