It’s no wonder that many films would strive to be qualified for an Oscar with their high quality and moving stories.
While it’s traditionally Western films that got into The Oscar, foreign films too have started to be part of it, with many being nominated to be in the running for the prestigious award.
You would be surprised that Upin and Ipin, have entered the list of nominees for “Best Animated Film” for their film “Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal” which was released in March.
In just three weeks since its release, this children film made over RM25mil in the Malaysian box office and received over 2 million admissions in Malaysia alone.
That’s an impressive feat!
Winning the “Best Animated Film” category let alone be nominated will no easy feat. They will be competing with 32 other animated films for the 2020 Oscars which will be held on 24 Feb 2020.
Besides being on the list of Oscars, the film was warded as The Best Film Story at the 2019 International Animation Film Festival in Montreal! Congratulations! You’re being on par with Disney by not being Disney!
