Is the lion just a fussy eater?
If you have been scrolling through the internet, you might have stumbled upon articles and posts about an overly skinny lion in Zoo Negara.

Netizens took the news hard, since months ago, donations have been pouring into the zoo in hopes to help cover cost and sustain the place during MCO.
kinda strange, i recently volunteered there and i saw the abang2 pekerja really gave them alot of foods and nutritions so i wonder why it became like this :/ https://t.co/l82gWLT09h

A Bernama reporter tweeted a video where she spoke to the zoo’s deputy president Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana regarding the lion’s condition.
Just interview now with timbalan presiden zoo negara malaysia Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana kes singa kurus tu sbb tukar diet dari daging ke ayam di sebabkan PKP, bekalan daging kurang. Lion tu tak berminat pada ayam. Jd dia kurus sikit tapi dia sihat cc @zlkha_z @f4izalhassan pic.twitter.com/pwK4NU11VD

According to Rosly, the reason for the lion’s weight is because of a change in diet as the zookeepers have changed the meal plans from meat to chicken.
However, this explanation did not sit well with netizens as many questioned the fact that the zoo received millions of donations but still failed to feed meat to the lions.

This excuse is ridiculous. Zoo Negara gets millions of donations. Animals need to be fed MCO or not. You don’t simply just change their diet then blame them for being picky. https://t.co/f2yiedmsZC

Dissatisfied netizens have also started a petition on Change.org called “Save Zoo Negara!” to demand an investigation into the case. The petition now has 11,930 signatures, with a goal of 15,000.
