Looks like we’ll have these two Penangites shining over us from above forever…
Two Penang schoolboys will have their names carved out in the Universe forever after winning an International Chemistry Award!
The two 16-year olds, Melwin Choon Lei Cheng and Yong Shiang Tham, who had participated in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2019 held in the U.S, competing with over 1,800 finalist from over 80 countries, won first place in the Chemistry Category!
The two boys from SMJK Chung Ling proved their way to the top by creating a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly solution to fight and decrease the spread of Aedes mosquito larvae. Their performance was so outstanding that, as an award for first place, an asteroid will be named after them! Way to go, Melwin and Shiang Tham!
The two boys also could not help but to thank their teacher, Ms. Heah Whey Cheng for her guidance for this unforgettable achievement.
This truly is a remarkable achievement – two Malaysian schoolboys’ names will stay remembered forever!
Both of you has made Malaysia very proud! Congratulations Melvin and Shiang Tham!
