Cinemas are now finally reopened. If you’re wondering what film to pair up with the popcorn that you’ve been craving for so long, we would highly recommend the new sci-fi adventure film, Dune. Here are 5 reasons why!
Don’t worry, this is a spoiler-free article! Though, it miiiiiight be slightly biased 😉
1. It’s based on a novel written in 1965.
This two-hour long film is based on a novel written by Frank Herbert. If you’re not much of a reader, well, this would be the MAIN reason why you should catch the film. Even for some readers they find the book to be difficult to finish, what more to non-readers like us. Having seen the film, we can assure you that it is easy to digest the sliiightly complicated world from the plot.
2. The film is a two-part series.
2021 Dune is the first of a planned two-part adaptation. We’re not sure when the sequel is gonna come out. But if you’re one that’s easy to get FOMO, better catch the first part so when the sequel drops in two years (or more) time, you can join in the conversation at parties or dinners. At least, you won’t feel left out if everyone around you has seen it. You can still watch Dune that is also currently on HBO Max, if you’re uncomfortable stepping into the cinemas.
3. “The next Star Wars, Lord of the Rings.”
Now, if you’re a fan of those two trilogy. Hold your keyboard, we’re not saying that Dune is on the same pedestal as them. Dune has a similar concept of different tribes fighting for something. If you’re into such a universe, Dune is similar to Star Wars or Lord of the Rings like what the critics said. It’s even mentioned in their final trailer!
If you like to immerse into a futuristic world that we potentially will be living in, that’s if we can live that long. Catch Dune on the big screen and find which tribe you’d like to be in!
4. The soundtrack is done by the brilliant Hans Zimmer.
If you know who Hans Zimmer is, this fact alone should easily lure you into the cinema to catch the film. We think he really outdid himself in this film. For those who don’t know who Hans Zimmer is, you might know some of the other films that he did the soundtracks for like Inception (2010) and Interstellar (2014)! If none of this rings any bell, trust us that the music in the film would really capture you instantly. The music really helped amplify the world. You’d be glad that you caught the film in the cinema with its loud and crisp sound system.
5. Timothee Chalamet.
Well, that’s enough said. Told you this article is sliiiiighty biased. Timothee Chalamet is the protagonist of the film joined by the incredibly talented ensemble formed by Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Zendaya and more. If you’re a fan of Timothee Chardonnay like us, he really did a good job carrying the lead role in the film. If you’re a fan of Zendaya, you might have heard, she only has a screentime for about 15 minutes out of the 2 hours 30 minutes. Though, we’ll definitely see more of her in the second part.
Dune is currently showing in the cinemas. Are you gonna watch it? Have you seen it, what’s your verdict? Tell us more about it in the comments!
