Jin, the oldest member of the most popular K-pop group, BTS, will carry a torch during the Summer Olympics in Paris. He has completed his military duty recently. According to Jin’s company, BigHit Music, he will be representing South Korea in the torch relay as he hopes to promote harmony and peace. This was confirmed on 3rd of July in a press email from the agency.
The agency also stated that he and the other torchbearers are scheduled to go across various historic sites of the host country. However, an exact schedule had not yet been disclosed. In addition, Jin has departed from Korea to Paris on 11th of July.
Before every game, there is a ceremonial relay known as the Olympic Torch Relay, in which the Olympic torch is carried from Olympia, Greece, through several nations, and finally arrives at the location of this year’s Olympic Games. Beginning in May of this year, the Olympic Torch Relay was launched.
The Olympic torchbearers are tasked with carrying the Olympic Flame and the Paralympic Flame across France ahead of the Olympic opening ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on 27th of July.
According to the Olympics’ official website, this year’s Games will include 11,000 Olympic torchbearers, with celebrations taking place in over 400 towns and cities throughout France and its five overseas regions which are French Guiana, Reunion Island, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.
