Malaysia is no stranger to monsoon season.
Here are five things that occur during monsoon season – fun throwback edition.
1. Haze Gone!
Throughout September last year, Malaysia was choked by the haze from forest fires in Indonesia. By late September, the haze dissipated due to rain that has fallen in Sumatra., putting out most of the fires. Beginning October, heavy rains and thunderstorms lashed throughout the peninsula, effectively killing out the haze for clear, fresher air.
2. Morning Fog
Unfortunately, while the rain has cleared up the haze (and gave us fresh air), they also gave us another menace: the fog.
This mainly happens in the morning when wet particles start rising to the sky after heavy rain. This gives a foggy scene in the morning, which begins clearing up as the morning progresses.
3. Thunderstorms!
However, with the haze gone, the monsoon has also come with a curse. Thunderstorms!
Malaysia is known to be the “lightning nation” of the world as the country with one of the highest lightning strikes. Subang, in particular, is a lightning hotspot, with over 300 yearlies.
In anticipation of lightning strikes, the Malaysia Met Department has issued a warning on thunderstorms. There will be heavy rain with a thunderstorm! Prepare for a rocky ride!
The thunderstorms don’t seem to be roaring out soon, so do keep a lookout on future thunderstorms!
4. Floods
The deluge of heavy rain has unleashed floods across the country.
In the third week of October in particular, more than usual heavy rains were unleashed across the country, causing flash flooding. Many social media users posted pictures of the flood, with some of them being waist-deep! Dealing with water damage by yourself is not only hard but also potentially dangerous. You should find a good water damage restoration minneapolis company that has the necessary equipment and knowledge to deal with any damage to your property.

5. Over 79 Flood Prone Areas Identified!
This is incredibly distressing guys!
Considering this rainy season, the Selangor government has identified over 70 flood-prone areas in nine districts. This was considering the heavy rains on the night of 17 October that caused flooding in several districts.
Despite this, the Selangor government has advised residents in the areas affected to make necessary preparations and to comply with orders from authorities should a disaster come.
