Gosh, where do I even start? There’s just so much there that you can actually write a whole book for it. Let me try and give you the main spicy points though. OG…OG. A team first founded from two players who were tired of being swapped around by other teams, thinking that if they stuck together long enough, if they played enough, if they trained enough… they could do the impossible. Those two players? n0tail and Fly. 9 years of friendship between them and countless pictures and memes to make you think that they really could do anything together… or so we all thought.
Since the start of Monkey Business, a team both Fly and n0tail made together that quickly gained recognition as one of the better teams that has yet to prove themselves because and I quote “they haven’t won anything”. Monkey Business was rebranded as OG (Though until today we still don’t know the true meaning of OG) and started its journey to become the very best.
With quite a few major successes under their belt, literally winning 4 out of the 5 Majors so far. It really seemed as though OG would be an unstoppable force and win the next International, right? Or so we all thought. With roster changes here and there, OG started to head into a slump after their TI7 exit at 7th – 8th place in 2017. But is that an indicator of a deeper problem perhaps? The team already wasn’t preforming well and this event might be last straw that broke the camels back.
I’d like to remind everyone that all the while this was happening, n0tail and Fly would say that everything was fine and that “friendship conquers all”. Little did they know, things were about to change.
After being in a slump for such a long time, something needed to happen. A change needed to be made. And oh boy did change come. Right before TI8, the biggest event of THE YEAR, the other half of the founding members left the group along with another star and former International winner S4.
Fly left the team and brought s4 with him. Out of nowhere.
A sudden betrayal.
OG, now only left with 2 players and 1 coach, were scrambling to recruit new players and even tried to recruit an Alliance player but was called out by the man, the myth, the legend Loda who posted a tweet on twitter.
What are they to do now? Well, they decided to draft their coach to fill in the slots. Only until they can find better players, but they couldn’t. They couldn’t find better players in time, what now? Going with a bold move, they decided to draft a relatively unknown player known as TOPSON and recently out of retirement Ana. With this rag tag team, they headed to TI8.
And since we already know the outcome of TI, Spoiler alert, OG WINSSSS!!!!!
But lets focus on something deeper- a broken friendship.
A rivalry between two ex-friends.
A hatred brewing.
After the sudden exit from OG, Fly seemed to be well adjusted to his new team, EG while n0tail was seen visibly shattered. And you could see that he had hatred in his eyes, just like some sith from the dark side. And this all came to actualization when EG had to play OG in one of the upper bracket games. In a stunning upset that went 2-1 for OG, EG was knocked down to the lower bracket and had to face elimination. But what came next sent chills down everyone’s spines.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYUM did you see that?! Screw TI, this is where it’s all about! A Betrayal, a tattered friendship, a rag tag team of players coming to defeat a consistently top 3 team in the world while eventually winning it all?! This is what Dota is about. This is the very CORE of what Mobas are all about.
OG would finish TI8 as champions, something that n0tail has always aimed for since the start of his career, defeating LGD 3-2 in a best of 5 game 5 that has never happened since 5 years ago, back in TI3!
