During a recent press conference held by Spire Entertainment, a South Korean agency, shocking allegations surfaced involving Kang Seong-hee, the agency’s former chief executive, who claimed she was sexually harassed by a member of the K-pop boy band Omega X.
According to Hwang Seong-woo, the current CEO of Spire and Kang’s husband, a surveillance footage clip was presented during the press conference. The clip purportedly showed singer Lee Hwi-chan engaging in inappropriate touching towards Kang.
Hwang revealed that the incident allegedly occurred during Omega X’s tour in the United States on July 11, 2022. He explained that the members, along with agency employees, were discussing their mandatory military service after drinking. It was then that Lee approached Kang under the pretext of discussing his military duty but proceeded to sexually harass her.
Hwang further disclosed that Spire had informed all 11 members of Omega X about the incident, which led to the termination of their exclusive contract with the agency. The court granted an injunction in January 2023, allowing the termination.
In response, Omega X’s current agency, IPQ Entertainment, stated that the group’s case against Kang has been forwarded to the prosecutors. Notably, the group had previously sued Kang for allegedly physically assaulting member Jaehan in a Los Angeles hotel corridor on October 22, 2022.
The public’s attention was drawn to Kang’s alleged act of violence during Omega X’s US tour in October 2022 when a video of her physically and verbally abusing the members went viral.
In May 2023, Omega X announced their contracts with IPQ Entertainment, prompting a legal battle with Spire to retain the group under its management.
Hwang expressed his determination to refute the false accusations against Kang and vowed to take legal action. He revealed that the surveillance clip was recovered recently through a forensic process and would be submitted as evidence in the upcoming lawsuit.
