Leading streaming service Spotify has made it a whole lot easier for use to browse new music and we all know what’s on our playlists!
Apart from International artists like Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes or even Martin Garrix, Spotify also stream songs from local Malaysian artists, if you don’t know any, read on and you might find your new favourite artist and new songs to jam to!
1. Talitha Tan
Malaysian songstress Talitha Tan has conquered local radio stations with regular rotations of ‘Okay’, slowly making it a pop classic. She’s also a familiar face in a few open mic nights around town, not forgetting the times she’s graced bigger stages like Publika Jazz Fest, Urbanscapes, and Good Vibes Festival. Done with being ‘Okay’, now Talitha is set to do it all over again with a new single that will probably hit you with the same effect.
‘Please Stay’ is probably Talitha’s most profound single so far. Wholeheartedly channelling her role as a daughter, the song is a refreshing call for gratitude not just to the singer herself but also to her listeners.
2. Elizabeth Tan
Elizabeth Tan got into the singing path during 2013 and recently she released a single named ‘Darling,’ it is for an OST that she is in called “My Darling Inspektor Daniel.”
3. Ayda Jebat
Actress and singer, Nur Suhada Binti Jebat, or better known by her stage name, Ayda Jebat, has been creating waves within the music industry. Her current hit ‘Pencuri Hati’ has over 2 million streams and continues gaining attention on the platform! You can find her on the Carta Malaysia 50 playlist.
4. Aiman Tino
Aiman broke into the Malaysian music industry at 18 with a hit song written by his parents, ‘Ku Rela Dibenci. That was the hit that pushed Aiman into the limelight.
5. Sufian Suhaimi
Sufian is a 25 year old singer with two hit singles– Terakhir and Harus Aku. His poetic lyrics definitely resonate amongst his fans and he has been racking up the streaming numbers in a very short time.
6. Nik Qistina
Nik Qistina is a 17 year old and she dropped her first single this year, titled Young Hearts. Her stunning beauty combined with her soulful and warm voice makes sure shes the next big thing.
