With the change of generations, the habit of celebrating Chinese New Year in every household has gradually changed. However, every time it is during Chinese New Year when we are with family and friends, we can always get back the familiar feeling of the past! Certain things must be done with family and relatives during the Chinese New Year to truly end the old year and start a new beginning.
1. Watch dramas, movies, and special programs for the New Year
Many families will gather together to watch special programs of Chinese New Year and there will be many movies related to Chinese New Year as well.
2. Play mahjong, cards, and board games
Of course! On Chinese New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year we must play games with relatives and friends! Playing mahjong and playing cards are must-have games for Chinese New Year. However, little ones can get together and play board games!
3. Shopping for new clothes
To welcome the Chinese New Year, there is a saying “wear new clothes and wear new hats”. Therefore, of course, it is indispensable to go shopping and buy new clothes. New year, a new beginning, put on new clothes to welcome the new year!
4. Go to the temple
From childhood to adulthood, I always followed my parents to the temple to worship and pray for blessings during the Chinese New Year. Going to the temple to pray for the New Year is a great start if you don’t know what to do!
5. Clean the house and organize the room
During the Chinese New Year, we will tidy up our home and don’t let relatives and friends see the mess when they come to pay New Year’s greetings!
6. Prepare reunion dinner
Chinese New Year is definitely about preparing dishes for the whole family so that everyone can enjoy a rich reunion dinner. Help out your parents to cook a delicious meal for everybody!
