ASMR is short for autonomous sensory meridian response – an experience characterized by a tingling sensation on the skin and in your brain that begins on the scalp and moves down the back of your neck.
It can be triggered with whispers, repetitive sounds like tapping, chewing or crunching food, altruistic tender personal attention and more.
Think of it as surround sound therapy that legitimately surrounds you and makes the sounds feel like they’re right beside your ears. It might sound weird, but ASMR is used to de-stress and calm a person with sleeping problems, anxiety and more.
It is best experienced with earphones on high volume.
