Forget about Moana and Frozen. To all the 1980s and 1990s babies, we all grew up reading fairy tales before bedtime or watching them on VCR. Somehow or rather, most of us still prefer the older version of Disney classics. Like they said, tale as old as time, so let’s look at some of the best classic Disney fairy tales that remain as our favorites:
1. Beauty and The Beast
Beauty and The Beast is one of the best childhood memories for us. It is much different from other cartoons because it has a lot of musical elements throughout the whole movie to tell us the story. No matter how many times we watch this movie, it still brings us as many emotions as before. It’s hard to flaw this!
Belle, the young woman that teaches The Beast how to love, showed us the importance of our inner beauty compared to our outer beauty. Belle never stop learning, and she inspires us to read and learn something new every day. Her character teaches us always love beyond what you can see and we think this is probably the most important things in throughout the entire life.
2. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs
Disney’s first animated film which was made in 1937, and it’s another fairy tales we grew up watching. This story is based on the German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm and produced by Walt Disney Productions.
Snow White and the seven dwarfs might not the best movies for pre-schoolers due to some of its content. As a refresher, it’s about the wicked queen who tries to poison the princess – Snow White to have the kingdom all to herself. But the seven dwarfs, animals, and Prince tries their best to save the princess. Through this story, it teaches us how to be selfless, kind and generous to people and animals alike.
3. Cinderella
Who can ever forget this? Our favorite part of the story is when the clock strikes midnight and Cinderella had to leave the castle but not before she her glass heels on the stairs. The rest, like they said, is history!
Through this movie, Cinderella teaches us the importance of standing up for ourselves at the face of bullies. Cinderella has a good point on not giving up on her dreams in spite of adversity. This is very important for everyone because people nowadays give up on their hopes and dreams easily. It’s okay to cry sometime for crying is not for the weak. As long as you dry your pillows the next day and take on the day with a new lease of hope!
4. Sleeping Beauty
A musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney based on The Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault.
The story revolves around Princess Aurora, who was blessed with three gifts from her three fairys (Flora, Merryweather, and Fauna) when she was a baby. But when the last fairy was about to bless her, the evil witch, Maleficent came and cursed Princess Aurora. So the last fairy changed her blessings, but the only one way to break the curse is when Princess Aurora gets a kiss of true love.
This story teaches us the importance of family, for they are life’s greatest blessings. And for that, Sleeping Beauty is one of those irreplaceable masterpieces and you should never miss!
5. The Little Mermaid
In 1989, The Little Mermaid was released by Walt Disney Pictures. I guess everyone should have heard about this movie before because the movie was just so good!
This story is about Ariel the mermaid who always dream of becoming a human before she get the chance to know Prince Eric. Her spirit is admirable because despite of putting everything at stake, she risked it all and put on a great fight to make her dream come true.
In all honesty, The Little Mermaid is one of most incredibly animated romantic story of all time, perfect for all regardless of your age!
