Getting a perfect set of eyebrow has always been a mystery for many. But for Shanice Yong, the ability to provide well-groomed eyebrows bring immense joy and meaning to her work as a National Brow Artist at Benefit Cosmetics. Read on to learn more about this bubbly lass!
1. Hi Shanice! Can you please tell us more about yourself?
Hello there! I’m Shanice, the National Brow Artist from Benefit Cosmetics Malaysia, also known as the ambassador of this brand. I love the art of makeup, it gives me that extra “oomph” that I need, especially on days when I’m particularly feeling unattractive. I used to be a state volleyball player as well when I was in primary and high school, that explains my sun-kissed tanned skin. I’m also known as the tropical lady, if I could, I would rather live by the ocean and immerse myself in the warm and tender arms of mother nature.
2. At what age did you start wearing makeup?
SIX! I still remember wearing makeup for the first time during kindergarten’s concert, and I cried because I wasn’t getting the hang of it with my lips being so red!! Hahaha!
3. How did you get into brows?
I started off by doing a lot of research back then about eyebrows, mainly on Instagram, because I meet all kinds of people in my life, everyday, and I realized how eyebrows actually does make a lot of difference as it frames your face and enhances your natural features. I receive a lot of compliments about my eyebrows and that really boosted my confidence level as well.

5. Most memorable brow grooming request?
Being able to wax a customer’s brows that was introduced by a good friend of mine. Best thing is that she was getting well-groomed for her wedding day and she LOVE how it turned out! Being able to make people happy, makes me happy. I LOVE MY JOB!
6. Can you please share with us on how to achieve the perfect brows?
Yes I would love to! Here are the step-by-step tutorial on how to create a natural brows instead, which is suitable for everybody 🙂
Prime your brows with Benefit’s Browvo Conditioning Primer to extend and enhance the look of the brow product. (Beauty tip: it can also be worn overnight to work its magic while you sleep! It is formulated with keratin and soy proteins known to help brows look thicker, healthier & fuller!)
Using Goof Proof Brow Pencil (we have 6 shades in total), start by creating a bottom line all the way to the brow tail, next is drawing hair-like strokes at the front part of the brow to create more natural gradient brows. To avoid harsh lines at the brows, use the Spoolie on the opposite side of the product to blend it just so there won’t be harsh lines.
For final look, using Gimme Brow+ (we have 3 shades in total) to make your brows come to life! Simply just brush through your brows to achieve the fuller-looking brows. (Beauty tip: I love that is quick, and easy! 7. What tips would you give to someone who is getting their first eyebrow product?
Always start off by using a brow pencil (Goof Proof Brow Pencil), it is convenient and easy to create natural brows if you’re a newbie.

I’ll list down my top 3 holy-grail products! First is Goof Proof Brow Pencil in #4, my everyday go-to product, quick and easy! Next is BAGgal BANG Mascara! Oh God you have to try if you haven’t already! Last favourite product is GALifornia blusher! I love how this blusher compliments any skin tone, it’s a sunny coral pink which I apply it to my cheeks and give that pop of colour to my face!

It’s all fun and laughter, being able to be myself.
10. What will you be doing if today you are not Benefit’s National Brow Artist?
I would still be pursuing my career as a professional freelance makeup and hairdo artist as I was before joining the pink fambam.
