Malaysians might want to think twice about getting too comfortable with the declining numbers of active cases in the country
Whilst it should be acknowledged that Malaysia has been faring well so far in its grueling battle against the pandemic, citizens should also be wary that the fight is far from an end in sight.
The WHO warns that vigilance is key as on a spectrum of cases worldwide, the numbers are definitely on the rise.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus apprised that more than 150,000 new cases of COVID-19 were reported to the WHO on June 19 alone, which is the most number of cases in a single day so far.
“The world is in a new and dangerous phase. Many people are understandably fed up with being at home. Countries are understandably eager to open up their societies and economies.But the virus is still spreading fast, it’s still deadly and most people are still susceptible,” Ghebreyesus warned.

WHO Emergencies Director Mike Ryan also set out to forewarn nations of a second wave of cases.
“You may have a second peak within your first wave, and then you may have a second wave: it’s not either or,” Ryan stated gravely.

Although the handling of the virus by Malaysian authorities have caused Malaysians to be optimistic, we have to continue to be cautious so that it would not have been all accomplished in vain.
