2/ As Malaysians, we’re actually pretty blessed to be living in a tropical country that allows us to do all kinds of fun stuff from indoors activity to outdoors. Bored of the typical mall outing with friends? Or had enough of hiking?
Why not head to some of the country’s most popular extreme sports centres for an instant rush of adrenaline. Plus, they’re mostly inexpensive and accessible, perfect for starters too.
1. Zip line among the beautifully lush greenery at Skytrex, Shah Alam
Fun fact: Malaysia is home to the longest zip line in South East Asia, located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. But we’re suggesting something a little more beginner friendly, and easy for a subtle thrill at Skytrex, Shah Alam. Families can bring their little ones and tickets are priced at less than RM60 for an amazing time to walk, swing and zip along bridges that are high enough for you to feel truly united with nature. Worried about not being fit enough? Fret not, there are levels to choose from but bear in mind that you do need a certain amount of strength and agility to be on great heights.
Check out price tickets and schedules on Skytrex’s official website here.
2. Go for stand up paddling lessons for some super-toned abs with Oxbold
Located at Putrajaya (there’s also one at Balok Beach, Kuantan), stand up paddling lessons teach you how to balanced and paddle your way around water on oversized boards for RM140. Less demanding than surfing, the ability to paddle properly will not only benefit you on the beach when you want to rent a oversized board for a fun time, but is also a useful skill should you ever need to work those arms for any water sports that require paddling. The 2-hour lesson will surely work that core out, so be prepared for an intense work out. If you’re feeling even more adventurous, pick up SUP Yoga for RM150.

3. Scream your butt out on a bungee jump at Sunway Lagoon
Bungee jumps are intense but we definitely recommend doing them at least once in your life for the sake of an unforgettable experience (hey, we think it’ll help with your acrophobia). Never mind the price, because bungee jumping at Sunway Lagoon will cost you only RM80 with a MyKad, while non MyKad holders will need to pay RM138. Fee to this activity is pay-per-ride, so your theme park ticket bands will not work, as it isn’t included in the package. Our suggestion is to come when the weather is less hot – mornings are great – and plan your day ahead of the jump so it’s less daunting. Remember, it’s faster than you think and soon it’ll be over so enjoy the experience as much as you can.
For more information, visit Sunway Lagoon’s official website here.
4. Forget indoor rock-climbing centres, head outside for a good climb at Batu Caves
It sound daunting yes, but this is actually a beginner’s guided rock climbing activity at one of the country’s most popular landmarks. For only RM118 per pax, you get to experience Batu Caves in a different way and no previous experience is required, so you don’t have to feel like you’re going to suck or suffer throughout the climb. For the price, you will be climbing these steady rocks for four hours and it comes along with basic climbing equipment for your perusal. If you want to save more money, this is the chance for you to bring friends to receive special price when you invite 10-15 pax.

5. White Water Rafting in groups will keep your pumped in a fun way
Take your pick from the Singoh River in Gerik, Kampar River in Gopeng, Slim River in Ulu Slim, or for you guys who are nearer to the capital city, Selangor River in KKB. The grade for every location varies, and the river rides are unpredictable (they can be as short as four hours or stretch out to three days), but with friends, you’ll never be bored of it. The lowest package is RM165 per pax for a grade 2 experience at the Kampar river, your raft will seat six people and it comes with all the basic necessities you need like rafting gears, and emergency kit. A weekend should cover this as Kampar is only two-hours drive from KL.
