Imagine living in a world where movement, sound, colour, and light all interact to create a mystical vibrating biosphere.
Resonating Microcosms: Liquified Light Colour, Sunrise and Sunset art exhibition by TeamLab is being brought to Malaysia by Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport BUKIT BINTANG CITY CENTRE (LaLaport BBCC) to enhance its extensive, immersive lifestyle shopping experience. Resonating Microcosms and Resonating Trees are two pieces of art that are featured in the free exhibition, which is open from August 4 to November 30, 2022 at LaLaport BBCC’s Central Rooftop Garden on level four.
These artworks change during sunrise and sunset. During the day, when the sun is up, it is a mirror. The innumerable ovoids (egg-shaped things) in the garden mirror life and their surroundings, including any nearby plants, people, buildings, or objects.
At night, after the sun has set, it’s LED lights and sound. When you touch an ovoid, the sound resonates from one piece to the next, eventually forming a mystical vibrating symphony.
Each ovoid is equipped with speakers and sensors, and a network connects them all. When you touch or push it, the colour will change and it will emit a vibrating sound, which will affect the surrounding ovoids and trees.
It increases people’s awareness of other people in the same space because the goal of the art piece is to establish a connection with the people and the environment. We’ll know we’re not alone in this microcosmos—a community or location that represents in miniature—because we’re all in it together.
With at least 57 different colours overall, each element in this project consists of two colours interacting with one another as a colour experiment. The colour combinations follow a predetermined order. Although they are synchronised and connected digitally through the network, they must be touched or moved in order to be activated.
Even if it’s wind, rain, or a moving animal like a bird, the ovoids may emit light and sound, and the colours may change with each movement. So, to “resonate the microcosmos” guests are encouraged to touch the ovoids.
