Malaysia is multi-racial country where people of various ethnicity and cultural co-exist in peace and harmony. Of course, there is no denying that some of us will make racy jokes once a while, which usually remains in the confinement of a private setting (and in the company of our closest friends and family).
Last week, our nation was shook with a news where a man that goes by the name of Edi Rejang said something reaaally unpleasant to a promoter who was promoting an alcohol beverage in the non-halal section at one of the hypermarkets located at Ampang Point. Without dwelling too much of what happened and the choice of words being used by Edi himself towards the innocent promoter who were just trying to earn an extra buck with her part time job, news came in that Edi Rejang, the “defendant” of this entire drama lose his job of 10 years WITHIN 24 hours after the incident took place.
Karma much?
Well, apparently Edi has been working with said (ex) employer for the last 10 years. Edi is also the sole breadwinner in his household, which means that his family is at the risk of not having any source of income until the whole commotion settle down (or longer). From what we’ve gathered, some even took the extra mile to expose information about Edi’s school-going kids. Not cool, guys!
While it’s pretty obvious that Edi went overboard with his poor choice of words towards the victim, don’t ya’ll think that it’s a teeny melodramatic to cut his main source of income altogether, given the fact that he is the only one who is earning for his family? Maybe (just maybe), a super red warning letter will serve the purpose? I mean, Edi is being prosecuted publicly anyway, and reports were being made with the police so we supposed that this guy should not present any threats anymore to anyone.
So what if we can all just take a deep breath and try to inflict as least damage than it already has?
Edi’s actions have cost him dearly and this is definitely an invaluable lesson that we believe will be ingrained in his life, forever.
Every one deserves a second chance. Choose the high road, peeps! Peace 🙂
