Let’s hear how Alvy shares her journey from acting to having a skincare business!
Adele: Hi Alvy.
Alvy: Hi everyone my name is Alvy. I’m a content creator, an actor and also a skincare entrepreneur.
Adele: Who and what actually made you want to be an actress and throughout this journey, are there any interesting things you can share with us about acting?
Alvy: I love acting and I’ve always been performing since I was a child so it’s always been like a part of me that I wanna perform acting, something that it’s not me. So when I had the opportunity to act in the Malay industry, at first I rejected because my Malay wasn’t good and then I took a while to practice my Bahasa Melayu and then the opportunity came.
Adele: What is the most interesting thing that you have encountered throughout this journey of acting?
Alvy: A lot. I think in my second acting, I actually encountered ghosts so that’s quite interesting. Yeah, I encountered ghosts. For real but I didn’t see it, it was there. Actually when you act in a horror movie, video or anything, you will encounter this kind of stuff. I acted completely differently so it kacau my emotions a little bit. So psychologically you have to be very strong if you get a very heavy acting role.
Adele: Tell us a little bit about that part like the health and beauty bit, and how did you start?
Alvy: Skincare has always been a part of my life and then I don’t know, I just thought, during the pandemic, I was like hmm I’m bored so let’s create something. That’s how it got started and then so far it’s been going very well, slow and steady which I like. This is because I don’t want to create something just because I want to make a lot of money. I want to create something that I love and people love and have more returning customers.
Adele: In the journey of doing the health and beauty industry, was there any like purpose of how do you get into it in the first place besides you liking skincare?
Alvy: I think the purpose is very simple because I want women to feel empowered even though I sell skincare doesn’t mean like your skincare is always like tip top condition or whatever. So I think it’s not about just selling skincare but I want to sell the idea of self acceptance and beauty and really just love yourself.
Adele: Hence, I think like talking about skincare and fulfilment about empowering women, I would love to know Alvy, in your personal daily life what is the number one tip to maintain or improve your own appearance? What do you do?
Alvy: Sleep early which I hardly get but most important is actually hydration. Drink a lot of water and then sunscreen is very important then take a lot of supplements.
Adele: That’s a lot okay, guys I just asked her one thing and she gave me five. Nowadays plastic surgery is very common. 7 years ago I actually did like DST, what are your thoughts on plastic surgeries?
Alvy: A lot of people say oh you shouldn’t do plastic surgery, you know? Love your natural stuff but what if we don’t love our natural self? You know what I mean so it’s our own decision to make ourselves feel better or something and then I don’t think other people outside other people that don’t know our internal self have the judgement for that. Just do whatever that makes you happy but I’m not promoting it, I just like to do whatever that makes you happy and make you more confident.
Adele: I feel like it’s just like the evolution of life. It’s like the last time for a girl to dye her hair, it’s like a taboo. Like oh my god what dye your whole hair like that or even a girl cutting like super boy cut hair, right? For example, back then maybe if we put super falsies, I feel it’s not about the plastic surgery because to me that’s just a mechanic. At the end of the day you get to know your limits and like anything extreme is never good.
Alvy: I feel like it’s just another enhancement just to make you confident.
Adele: Speaking of like you know? People judging us or we all want to look better or feel better. What are the 3 most important things in your life and why? Let’s go deeper.
Alvy: My phone, of course. I feel like everything is on my phone. My money is in my phone so that’s very important. Secondly is my dog because I got him during 2020 and I don’t know if people noticed I have a battle with mental health so my dog is my emotional support. Third one is my family and my friends.
Adele: If I were to ask you to list down all the things you love, how long will it take until you write your own name?
Alvy: Oh that’s actually very deep.
Adele: It’s not just you Alvy, like me too. Yeah I went to this training and I also got a tight slap on my face. Write about even your pencil and not even yourself. There’s also a very fine line between like vanity right? Like you don’t want to be over like me, myself and I but it’s really more of knowing that everything stream and birth from you. If Alvy is good, relationships will be good if Adele is good. In 2023 like so fast, what other things that you want to pay more attention to and why?
Alvy: I want to pay a lot of attention towards healing myself even though outside is good. Like career, relationships everything is good but if you’re not healing internally, you’re never gonna be happy.
Adele: Like finding fulfilment inward so last but not least you know, what is the best advice that you have heard from someone else that you would love to share with all of us today?
Alvy: If you want to change your surroundings, you have to change within yourself. It feels like whatever you see outside is actually your own perspective so if you change within yourself you can see the change outside.
Adele: If we are not intentional about it our day to day is just following the flow you know meetings, the phone call, the work. We always talk about what we like to do, right? Like we have a book of to-do list like I wanna encourage even you or myself or to everybody that’s listening today, what about your to-be list? I wanna be confident today, I wanna be outrageous today, I wanna be grateful today and I think it is something that is so easily said if we are not careful we all let things slip us by.
Alvy: Stay present because like when you are just going at the flow, you are not staying present and aware of your own self.
Adele: Maybe to anyone that is also struggling, they are just kind of a little bit stuck you know. Any words of encouragement you can give to them?
Alvy: I feel like everybody will go through this phase or going through this phase and it’s normal. I think it’s very important to continue staying present and also staying grateful. For me, personally, everything goes up must go down and then you always go up again. Thus, if you believe in god, a religion for me personally is trust in the universe and god-like universe has always had big plans for you.
Adele: Yeah, thank you so much Alvy. For all of you, if you like what you see be sure to share it and follow Alvy on her Instagram and all her socials. Thank you Alvy, I’ll see you in the next one.
Alvy: Bye Adele, bye
