With 2018 coming to a close, let us reflect and look back on the freshest beats of 2018, from the slower songs to turned up ballads, there’s definitely something on this list for everyone to jam to. In truth, there are waaaaaaay too many good songs from 2018 which we just couldn’t get them all into this list so here it goes:
1. Martin Garrix feat. Khalid- Ocean
What do you get when you get a DJ and a soulful artist? An amazing song apparently, with Martin Garrix’s sick beats and Khalid’s strong vocals and meaningful lyrics, this is should be your go to song to chill to at night with a drink in your hand facing the beach.
2. Drake – In my feelings
Love it or hate it, you can’t deny it! Drake’s In My Feelings topped the Billboard’s 2018 songs of the Summer chart for at least 8 weeks in a row and spawned multiple memes from it, including different versions of TIKTOK dances that ended with some people getting hurt, party hard but stay safe ya’ll!
3. Dean Lewis – Be alright
Now this one, I don’t think Malaysians saw coming. Dean Lewis, A five time ARIA Award nominee has finally broken through and gotten an ARIA chart title to his name. “Be Alright” is currently a platinum-certified song that removed Drake’s “In My Feelings” from the no. 1 spot to be the top dog on the Aussie charts and even reached no. 2 on Spotify. Whatever it is, we can all be sure to feel real when we’re listening to “Be Alright”.
4. Maroon 5 – Girls like you
Girls like you, run round with guys like me or so that’s what they say. This hit with a sick beat is definitely gonna get you off your feet as you think about all the girls that were supportive of you and maybe even that one girl you were missin’.
5. Rich Brian – History
We got History, just like this song. Come explore a weird mix of feelings as you bounce from high and hyper to melancholy as Rich Brian takes you out on a journey that deals with the past and what the future holds for both you and your (ex) partner.
6. Post Malone – Better now
Love him or Hate him, he’s got godly vocals paired with a lovable personality. With his new album Beerbongs and Bentleys released, out came a hit that was so real and raw it that it’s bound to get you moving while never really knowing why.
7. Travis Scott – SICKO MODE ft. Drake
You’ve heard it one place or another, I’m sure we don’t need to explain this one. Enjoy the beats fam!
8. Childish Gambino – This is America
This is Malaysia lah. But as controversial as this song is, you can’t deny that this song has such an interesting feel to it. Plus you get to see Donald Glover acting crazy while topless, what’s not to love?
9. Phum Viphurit – Lover boy
Thai Born, New Zealand raised, Bangkok living artist with a heart of gold and the voice of an Angel, get lifted away as he tells you how you can call him “Lover boy”.
10. Avril Lavigne – Head above water
Feeling lost? Feeling like you’re going to drown? Fret not, that was how Avril Lavigne felt as well after battling her conditions, Let yourself go while you listen to this emotionally charged song about faith and recovery.
11. Half.Alive – Still feel
Now I’m going to be honest, I first heard this song while I was out shopping but ever since then I just couldn’t get it out of my head. There’s just something about a sick funky beat with smooth vocals that gets you going!
12. Joji – Slow dancing in the dark
What is there say? Former controversial internet sensation-turned artist, debut album, pulling all the right heart strings. Although people doubted his abilities as an Artist, George “Joji” Miller sure showed them huh? Enjoy this track, as there’s bound to be more to come!
