Finally, you can now unlock your iPhone with your face mask on!
Earlier this week, Apple released iOS 15.4 which added some important features such as the ability of unlocking your iPhone device using Face ID while still wearing your face mask-wearing without an Apple Watch present.
The Face ID update, which is compatible with iPhone 12 or newer, works by recognising “the unique features around the eye area to authenticate” the user’s identity almost like an Eye ID. To set it up, the user has to activate the ‘Face ID with a mask on’ toggle. Then, scan their face (without a mask), that’s all!
Other than that, the new update includes a new Siri voice which is gender-neutral named “Quinn.” Voiced by a LGBTQ+ community member, Apple hopes will “better reflect the diversity of the world we live in.”
And of course, this update also features a surprising batch of new emojis! The 37 new emojis include a pregnant man, a disco ball and a lung x-ray.
