Duo Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik make history as Malaysia’s first world champions at the BWF World Championship.
The Badminton World Championship took place last week from the 22nd till the 28th of August in Tokyo. The BWF World Championship is a badminton tournament that was founded 45 years ago, and for the first time ever, Malaysia took home the gold title for men’s doubles.
This accomplishment is one worthy of being celebrated nationwide, and with Merdeka coming up this week, this feat has left all Malaysians feeling more patriotic than ever. Many of us, including the families of the players, consider this win to be a National Day gift due to the timely occurrence of the win being so close to National Day.

Whilst we celebrate this legendary duo, we also send our love and appreciation to all the other Malaysians who took part in the championship tournament. We are incredibly grateful to have such a large number of talented players representing us to the world.
