It’s finally New Year’s Eve! Whether you’re still on holiday or working hard at work, New Year’s Eve is somewhat a bittersweet day of the year where most (if not all) of us reflect upon the last 365 days of 2019.
This is the day where we gather our thoughts and give a mental rating on how our year has been- the good, the bad, or the mediocre. Whichever it was for you, the past is a place of reference for your future self; focus only at the right lessons it presents you, then you shall emerge stronger and better than ever.
As the famous quote that goes like this: “reader lives a thousand lives before he dies…”, learning from others’ life experiences may prevent you from making the same mistakes. With this essence in mind, the team from Sevenpie has reached out to real Malaysian people (some you may recognize from social media) to share about how 2019 has been to them. With their stories and real life experiences, we hope that this new found wisdom will inspire you to be the best version of yourself to usher in the brand new year and decade!
So sit back and enjoy because these are the few final worthy reads of 2019!

1. Hi Shero! Thanks for taking your time out to do this with us! Before we begin, can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hey! My name is Shero Lam, I’ve just graduated with Bachelor in Marketing, and I’m living in an entrepreneurial spirit. I’m open to new experiences, love travelling, learning new skills and sometimes just doing something that’s out of my comfort zone that can actually be really good outcome or nah. Anyways, it’s my pleasure to be interviewed by Sevenpie.
2. What is the one proudest achievement that you’ve attained this year.

One of my proudest achievements I’ve done is probably when I sold off my business this year for good, and get myself ready for new opportunities.
3. Which of your personal attributes turned out to be the most helpful to overcome the curveballs thrown at you this year?
I think I am a fast learner, and a person who’s never going to let myself stuck in hardship for long. Let’s face it! Remember the mistakes. And as people always say, if there’s a will, there’s a way. I believe in that, and that’s how I eventually find my way to overcome it.
4. Who, or what, are you most thankful for this year?
I’m truly thankful that my family is always being so supportive, and have faith in me, which gives me real good affirmation and confidence.
5. If someone were to write a book, song or even make a movie about your life in 2019, what kind of genre would it be?

Perhaps a comedy movie seems more like it. Not that my life is a joke, but I’m kinda chill, and I enjoy the laughter! Haha. I enjoy sending hilarious memes and GIFs, like that’s the only way to communicate. Best if the movie could include brunch of cute dogs! I’m a big fan of dog-related movies, but I can’t say the same about dramatic movies.
6. As the year comes to an end, what are some of the important lessons about your life that you’ve learned that you would like to share with our readers.
There’s one thing I’ve learned and I would like to share about is to know your value. I think people always feel stuck where they are in their life, and maybe you’re feeling like that right now. Imagine if you just bought the latest version of new iPhone, and someone offer you less money to own your phone, what would you say?
No, right? Because you know how much it’s worth.
But, what about yourself? It’s the one of the main obstacle for a person to achieve success if they do not understand their own value. Never settle for something that’s less than your worth. Be more self-awareness of your own strengths and weaknesses. If you know you aren’t good enough, do something, make changes that will lead you further. Remember, this is your life 🙂

I made one of my dreams come true! Since I was little, I always dream about singing on stage & alhamdulillah this happened for the very 1st time when I got invited by Rollney Malaysia for their Grand Opening at Sunway Pyramid. And then I joined Competition Clash of Talent By Thegirlsrepublique.

5. If someone were to write a book, song or even make a movie about your life in 2019, what kind of genre would it be?
If it’s a song, the tittle would be ‘From zero to hero’ because I started from ground zero; from having nothing at all but now I’ve achieved everything I wanted through hard work and persistence!
6. As the year comes to an end, what are some of the important lessons about your life that you’ve learned that you would like to share with our readers.

Karishma
1. Hi Karishma! Thanks for taking your time out to do this with us! Before we begin, can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
My good name is Karishma and people know me as KR Karishma. I’m 26 years young and I am absolutely grateful to my parents for giving me an identity to remember 🙂
Currently I am a business owner; I own a salon in Klang called Karrishma Beauty House. My mum is the founder of the co and I am super proud and grateful to my mum to pass the charge of the co to me and ever since I am the current director of the company for the past 5 years.
Besides my professional career, my personal qualifications includes modelling, acting and hosting or it also can be simplified as an artist.
I’m also highly associated in the entertainment industry since I was 18. It began when my university gave me the platform and opportunity to explore and embrace my talents. Opportunities came through for me even as student. With that said I’d love to express my heartfelt gratitude towards my university (Limkokwing University). So that is all how it began for me and to where I stand today 🙂
2. What is the one proudest achievement that you’ve attained this year.
My proudest achievements for the year would be 2 things! So I travelled more than 10 destinations this year & I made it to the big screens! It was my debut film called Metro Maalai.
So as exciting as it sounds, it was truly an amazing experience which I’m forever grateful to have.
3. Which of your personal attributes turned out to be the most helpful to overcome the curveballs thrown at you this year?
To me, it took not just one but many different personal attributes at different occasions to stand strong against every curveball that was thrown at me.
That includes being ambitious, adventurous, courageous, professionalism, determination, and just being able to be adaptive to changes through the process. I strongly believe that one who can take any levels of pressure, has the ability to adapt at any circumstances, and also be able to balance their emotions.
4. Who, or what, are you most thankful for this year?
I am honestly most thankful to myself this year truly because I think I have spent most of the time of this year with my good self in different destinations away from friends and family.
Not to sound like I’m full of myself, but this year was definitely not easy on me. I was put to situations where I’m least expecting it, and it definitely caught me off guard. It was more of a roller coaster ride I’d say. There was always something up when I was completely not fit to deal with it mentally, but yeah I did it. Today when I look back, I often thank myself for not giving up. Especially when my mental health took a toll on me to different levels but I was somehow thankful to God for constantly keeping me sane at different extremes of pressure, even though I lost my cool at so many point.
5. If someone were to write a book, song or even make a movie about your life in 2019, what kind of genre would it be?
Selena Gomez- Lose you to Love me
6. As the year comes to an end, what are some of the important lessons about your life that you’ve learned that you would like to share with our readers.
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned this year is to not give up or to lose yourself at any point of your life.
There is always a solution behind every problems that we are put to. There’s a reason why we were given that battle. Trust me on this. There’s a definite reason and answer why we were put at that particular situation. One hundred and ten percent.
It’s always for the good which we will eventually understand if we choose to accept it all and exhale it all at once. You will attain that level of understanding and adaptability when you start allowing things to go as it was meant to be.
So do not give up, always stay in sane, and believe in yourself that you’re better than that. Maybe not at that particular time but eventually things will change, time will heal and doubts will be cleared. Believe.
7. What would you like to say to your 2019 self before we close this chapter in life?
I thank God for everything that has happened throughout the year. I believe there was a reason to everything that took place. It was what made me stronger and allowed me to to learn about my good self.
I have learnt from all the lessons and I will always embrace the changes through the experience that was stored to me.
8. A new year and a new decade is upon us. Now tell us, what is that one main thing that you would like to achieve in 2020.
I am looking forward to achieve more travel related projects and increase the engagement with different types of people sharing their thoughts on environmental changes.
I’m also hoping to make a positive, environmental impact on some of the issues that our planet Earth is facing. Truly because I love travelling and I honestly appreciate the Mother Nature for its beauty and what she has to offer.
Besides that, I have high interest in astronomical views, so in other words I’m an astrophile and partially a thalassophile. So I am truly keen in protecting nature and raising awareness about the consequences that we will face down the road should we choose not to do anything about it. I am not sure how far I will achieve but I believe in baby steps, so I will do as much as I permit to.
9. What would you like to say to your future self as we step into the brand new year?
To constantly strive towards my goals and to level up in all my interests and aspects of my life.
What I’ve been doing so far has been good enough, but to make sure to do better in the coming year. Embrace it all.
