Hello pindaPanda! Tell us more about yourself! What do you do full time?
Pinda Rika Dorji aka pindaPanda brought up in the small Himalayan country called Bhutan. 21 years young! Graduated over a year ago from IUKL with a degree in Construction Management in Civil Engineering. I was working in a construction firm for 5 months until I decided to resign to get into another one which is currently. I am a TVHost for eGGNetwork (the first 24/7 eSports channel in the South East Asia and Australia). A YouTuber and partners with MSI and Fanatic Gear.
pindaPanda is the cutest name – what was the thought behind this name?
My mum and my friends would call me Panda most of the time so I just adapted to it and I combined it with my first name Pinda to make it my in game name over 4 years ago.
Share with us your journey as e-sports content creator! What first intrigued you to games?
It started just over a year ago when I was working in the construction firm. I thought of giving up gaming but then that was my area of heaven throughout the week and my mum would always remind me that it was all about balancing. And she was right. I watched a lot YouTube videos and always wanted to create some of my own content. Funny was the objective for me. I had to come up with something creative and unique as well. Something that wasn’t already there on the platform and that’s when it hit me, bring out the fun side of e-Sports through acting.
My grandmum had introduced me to gaming when I was about three. She’d buy new games every now and then and we’d play for hours and hours. Super Mario and Contra were the first games we played on Nintendo.
Have you joined any tournaments thus far?
I have joined only one so far. The Pesta Selangor Games in 2015 where me and my team got rekt on stage by a pro team called Mineski-X :p
Tell us how are you inspired to create content for your online platforms?
When I first started, my upload times were very unstable and gapped largely and it was only on my Facebook page. Cuz’ I was working fulltime with eGGNetwork and I barely got time. Plus all of our content was on TV. But recently I decided to take some time out solely to make my own videos and also make the upload times constant as well as concentrate on YouTube mainly. It’s been a month and a half now, I upload videos every week on Monday.
As for the ideas I just have to keep playing games and they just pop up. Although it mainly depends on how I execute them at the end of the day.
Other than gaming content, will you venture into a different genre on your online platforms?
Yes, definitely 🙂 I’ve slowly started to mix in the general genre into my videos as I understand that a percentile of my audience don’t game. I’ve just started it and it’s going to take some time and a lot of hard work as well as a number of ideas but I plan to increase the number of videos I post per week. Hopefully at least twice per week, a gaming and a general one.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Independent. Astrophile. Nocturnal.
Any upcoming projects for you?
No notable ones for now. Small projects are all I have for now, one after the another. But my projects would mainly include hosting TV Shows, traveling to eSports competitions and content creation. The biggest project I had was the pindaPanda Show which just aired on TV with 6 episodes and ended recently.
Do share some advice to budding content creator’s life yourself out there!
All those successful YouTubers and videographers started with nothing but with just an idea of their own and a burning desire to execute it. You never know until you try and trying doesn’t always mean you’re gonna succeed. Failures are a part of life and it’s what makes us prep better for the next time so don’t give up ! After all we only have one life.
What is a typical day in your life?
Sitting in front of my computer, munching away like a happy pig while finishing an entire season of a new TV Series I haven’t watched and game for about 4-7 hours.
Any life mottos?
Family first. Always.
Who is your all time inspiration in life? Tell us what makes you smile the most? ☺
My mum is my all-time inspiration! And seeing my grandmum dancing! :p
Will you still see yourself as a content creator in the future?
Maybe, maybe not, I don’t really know. I’m more of a person who lives in the present and right now all I know is I still want to keep creating more content and I love it and that’s all it matters 🙂
