Some of us have been there, some worst than others, but social media star Jazel Lim had it pretty bad on Chinese New Year.
While we were all celebrating the Lunar New Year, social media star Jazel Lim was left in shock after finding out that her Instagram account had been hacked.
Dennis posted on his Instagram story on the 5th of February, updating us about the incident that had all of us shook to the core.
According to her explanation, it seems like an email was sent to her along with a link, which she casually clicked on, leading her to the whole situation.
As a public figure, receiving emails regarding brand deals, advertising opportunities and collaborations from companies is a given.
We can’t blame her as we’re all curious creatures, we too would click on the link. Besides, hackers have the tendency to be extra sneaky and will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.
The social media star was immediately locked out of her own account as soon as she clicked on the link.
This was then followed up with a thread of emails threatening her, instructing her to reply them within a certain amount of time – refusing to do so will lead to her pictures and account being erased. Fortunately, she did not comply to their demands.
She’s been trying to contact Instagram since, but still no luck in retrieving her account.
There seem to be no end to this malicious attempt as @tziaaa too have gotten the same email! Thankfully, she was aware of the skim and made a good choice with her quick thinking
