Taylor Swift won big at the MTV Video Music Awards, picking up her fifth Video of the Year award for “Fortnight” with Post Malone, as well as Artist of the Year, Best Direction, Best Collaboration, and Best Pop; “Fortnight” also won Best Editing for Chancler Haynes. The 34-year-old is now the only artist to win three years in a row and five times in her career, with wins for “Anti-Hero” in 2023 and “All Too Well (Ten Minute Version)” in 2022. Recent six wins also brought her overall VMA collection to 30, surpassing Beyonce’s previous record of 25. In her victory speech, Taylor praised her crew for their assistance with the music video for “Fortnight,” including co-stars Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Post Malone, before thanking her “boyfriend” Travis Kelce.
“I would always hear someone cheering or woo-hooing from across the studio,” she said of her experience filming the music video, “and that one person was my boyfriend Travis.”
“Everything this man touches turns to happiness, fun, and magic, so thank you for including that in our shoot,” she remarked, prompting applause from the audience.
The 34-year-old won six of her 12 nominations and thanked her supporters before encouraging everyone over the age of 18 to register to vote; the night before, she endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
