The Suicide Squad is finally happening!
But wait a minute, haven’t we seen Suicide Squad back in 2016?
Well according to Warner Bros. insiders, The Suicide Squad is a “total-reboot” of Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad broke box office records and was the top 10 highest-grossing film of 2016, despite receiving extremely negative reviews from critics and mixed reactions from fans. It seems pretty obvious that some of the casts from the 2016 film isn’t returning for this reboot. Yikes!

James Gunn! Director of Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2 is lending his skills to DC after being fired from Marvel for his offensive tweets back in July 2018. Though he has since been reinstated, he wants to finish directing and supervising the post-production of The Suicide Squad before returning to GOTG. Besides directing, Gunn will also be writing the script for The Suicide Squad!
After months of speculation on who the cast will be, James Gunn posted on Instagram confirming the casts with familiar names: Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman and among many other.
What we know is that Robbie, Courtney, Davis, and Kinnaman will be reprising their roles as Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Amanda Waller and Rick Flag respectively. Some Marvel names are also joining in: Taika Waititi and Sean Gunn, though it’s yet to be disclosed what their roles will be.
The Suicide Squad which is set for release on 6 August 2021 will not have a happy ending for every one. Gunn teased that not all of the characters will survive. Whatever that means, do expect some characters to die in this reboot version!
According to Deadline.com, Suicide Squad has begun filming on 20 September in Pinewood Studios Atlanta and will wrap on 31 January 2020. Filming is also to take place in Panama. According to Gunn, filming will use very large sets as well as practical effects.
Though the plot is still under wraps, we can expect plot details to come as the release date nears, though rumors are circulating around fans tell that Amanda Waller sends the Suicide Squad to find an alien monster locked pin Panama. The Monster is being manipulated by 2 evil dictators: The Mayor and The General.
We’ll have to wait whether the rumors are true!
