Not only are these cosy nooks the perfect setting for some chill-and-study sesh with the squad, but there’s simply something about the bookish hushed confines that offer blissful tranquillity. Contrary to what you may think, public libraries are no longer the run-down establishments you once knew – one of them is even equipped with their very own gym!

1. National Library of Malaysia

Free books + free parking to boot? Sign us bibliophiles up please!

The O.G. of all public libraries (there’s a reason why it’s appointed as the National Library ya know), this establishment boasts one of the largest collection of books and research papers for interested individuals. A hidden treasure trove for book-lovers alike, the rustic Malay architecture sets the mood further with fully- furnished facilities and a blissful setting.

 

2. Perpustakaan Raja Tun Uda

Forget shopping malls – this modern library is bound to fill up a day’s schedule without much difficulty. Apart from your usual book collection (trust us on this when we say it’s HUGE), this establishment is also packed with a 3D/6D theatre, countless meeting rooms for huddle sessions and a gymnasium!

Tech-savvy crowd, rejoice – there’s no need to fret for the lost connectivity to the outside world when you send your laptop in for repairs. Raja Tun Uda Library generously offers internet surfing services at only RM1 per hour! So ahem, there can be no more excuses for handing late assignments, eh?

 

3. Perpustakaan Hipermedia MPSJ

The Subang folks would be familiar with the sight of a colourful structure facing the ever-bustling NPE highway but not many are clear on its purpose. Allow us to let you in on a little secret – it is home to the Subang Jaya Hypermedia Library which was previously located at USJ 9. Furnished with over 32,000 books (and counting!), this nifty public space also offers an ideal setting for students with binding, printing and scanning services so you no longer have to endure last-minute rushes at the bookstore.

4. Damansara Community Library

….Because nothing says intense studies like a library + cafe combo.

Jokes aside, this cosy community library pulls a steady stream of office workers, students and children due to its all-rounder facilities that serves people of all ages. Equipped with a separate children’s corner, this welcoming space is stuffed with books from toddler favourites to picture encyclopaedias for the curious little ones. After an intense study cram session, what’s better than to de-stress with a steamy cup of joe at the cafe right outside?

 

5. Perpustakaan Bandar Baru Sentul

Plush cushions and a comfy environment , check. Cosy up amidst their colourful surroundings and laze the time away with some leisure reading, or else surf the net and get some assignments done at the Chrome lab – with over 40 computers, they are never short of facilities for everyone.

Constructed right in UTC Sentul,  its strategic location makes it superbly convenient for the Sentul folks to enjoy its amenities. For those with children, you’ll certainly be pleased with the wide array of activities hosted – from colouring contests to ukulele classes, rest assured your little ones will experience an enjoyable evening there.
